{Confiding in Zillow}

S and I just checked this home today and we both absolutely loved it. It's everything we want in a home and it even had a bonus room with a 1/10 scale model of the drum set that S will one day put in that room (it was a kid drum set and a total sign!)

The home is just above where we'd like to be on our first home but we love it so much that we're considering going for it and putting in the offer.....and then I looked it up on Zillow.......

The "Zestimate" is over $120,000 less than asking price. I can't figure out why this is so low, maybe it's the area (it's across the street from a shopping mall which is a minus but it's also across the street from the most gorgeous park which is a huge plus). I suppose this is the stage where we need to weigh our options.

The only downside about this house is the location but it's also the biggest upside. Being across the street from a shopping mall is something we can live with if it's also  literally down the street from the cute little downtown area and farmers market on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. We wouldn't have to drive anywhere on the weekends.

I don't have a problem ignoring the Zestimate but S isn't feeling so great about writing an offer at $110,000 more than the Zestimate. It's probably my favorite house so far and I don't want to lose it over a website's general estimate.

What are your thoughts on this? How trustworthy is Zillow? Would you ignore it and write an offer close to asking just to get your dream home?
