happy friday!

my goodness it's been a long time since i posted a happy friday post. before baby, which i've been referring to as "bi" (you know, "before ina"), i used to post these fun cheeky little happy friday posts that consisted of my favorite web pic of the week and a hilarious and witty little comment about what i did that week or what i'll be doing this weekend. but that was "bi" and who has time for that these days?

a good friend of mine recently told me that she loved my blog and that it has inspired her to start documenting her new adventure with her handsome little baby boy. so with that, she has inspired me to start blogging about the things that i used to love to blog about. as tiny and short as these friday posts were, they made me happy because they signified the beginning of the weekend and the fun pictures always brought a smile to my face. 

so today is the start of summer and with that comes this adorable pic that basically embodies this joyous season. 

we have a few fun trips planned this summer and they pretty much all consist of a pool/ocean/or some other sort of massive body of water.

happy friday {inside jokes}

so i suppose once you blog about an inside joke, it's not an inside joke any more but this one is worth sharing {i think}.

i just know my little girl is probably going to be super embarrassed many years down the line when she realizes that her mom blogged about this but heck, i'm going to be embarrassing her all of her life so why not start now?

i may be sharing too much info here but my husband and i are both pretty hairy people. my eyebrow wax lady is my best friend and i'm forced to shave my legs more often than the average person but it's something i've learned to live with and accept as a person of hispanic heritage. my poor husband is also of hispanic heritage so he shares in my razor burn blues. therefore, it's going to come as no surprise that our little lady is in for a furry future but just like us, she's going to have to learn to live with it. she'll be the 5th grader with the hairy legs (because just like my parents did, we're not going to let her shave her legs until she's in junior high) and she'll be rocking the unibrow until she decides it's time to introduce the pain of plucking (which will likely not happen until high school). my poor little lady will be teased but we all made it through and i know she'll be confident and humble enough to brush it all off.

and with all that said, my husband and i have been joking even before we knew we were pregnant that we were destined for a hairy baby and every time we see a picture of a gorilla baby, we smile a bit because that's our inside joke and now you're in on it too.

i'm pretty sure this weekend marks the beginning of fall. it certainly doesn't feel like fall yet but i will pretend by indulging in all things pumpkin, including pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pancake mix from trader joes, pumpkin martinis....oh wait....no pumpkin martinis this season BUT perhaps i can make a pumpkin smoothie ;) 

praying for the nice crisp weather to soon follow because this pregnant mama is in some desperate need of a massive cool down.

wishing you a lovely weekend. i'm looking forward to spending tomorrow with one of my favorite friends while braving ikea on a saturday and then brunch with some of my most cherished high school girlfriends on sunday and then the usual baby class on sunday evening. and here are just a couple of my favorite things around the web this week:

1. this little adorable panda getting its belly rubbed during an exam.

2. this little nugget of wisdom couldn't have come at a better time.

3. i think you should purchase some of these raffle tickets and invite me if you win. just saying. 

4. we get lots of cool mail at work but this is by far one of my favorites. 

5. Is it silly to register for things I don't need? I obviously don't need this adorable cardigan but I would sure love to put baby girl in it. 

happy friday {concert weekend}

when i look back at this week it will certainly not go down as one of my favorites but this life of ours works in funny ways and when something gets you down.....sure enough something is just around the corner to bring you up and for me that something is this man.

life seems so elevated when i'm in a stadium full of people appreciating live music. everyone is singing and dancing and living in the moment.

so to top off this week and remember it as a good one instead of a bad i will hold this dave matthews quote deep in my heart:

"there are bad times, but that's okay, just look for the love in it, don't burn the day away."

and just putting it out there in the universe, i'm really really hoping he sings this song.....

i've got an action packed weekend ahead of me and I can not wait to get this started. we'll be catching up with friends almost every single day and escaping to some water, which i've been craving this entire pregnancy.

earlier this week we took a stroll through town and ran into a little surprise in the park.....a puppy! i'm such a sucker for puppies and all their sweet fun and floppy ways.

25.5 weeks (a late post and happy friday!)

i have to apologize for slacking on the posts lately. this 25.5 weeks post comes just a day shy of my 26.5 week mark (so expect some back to back action over the weekend). i've just been overwhelmed with life lately and i'm struggling to keep up. i guess this is going to be the pace of things from here on out so i should get used to it and just get better at juggling it all. we've been making some serious progress in the baby room ( i can not wait to share those photos with all of you) and the baby showers are in the calendar (thanks mom, sister and co-workers!) we do not have a free weekend until the baby arrives but i'm loving every second of it. i'm not one to sit around and wait so keeping me busy is the best way to keep me sane. she's also been kicking and moving a lot lately. it's pretty fun to see my belly move around -- she's definitely practicing her ballet leaps and jazz hands -- so i'm obviously already a proud mama :)

dolce far niente {the sweetness of doing nothing}

i'm feeling so productive today. it's only 2pm and i've already:

slept in

ready my book {currently reading 'is everyone hanging out without me?' by mindy kaling}

watched a terrible lifetime movie

cuddled with the pups

and now i'm watching "eat, pray, love," i have a handful of favorite scenes from this movie. i mean, i always wanted to go to italy but after seeing this movie i made it my personal mission to get there. pizza in naples, soccer game in a bar full of loud italians, food food and more food.  but the most standout scene is when liz gilbert's character buys herself a gorgeous nightgown, makes herself an amazing meal, sits down on the ground, opens up a newspaper and simply says, "dolce far niente," which means the "sweetness of doing nothing."

it really is the perfect scene. 

and now i'm getting myself out of bed {finally} to go treat myself to a mani/pedi.

my happy place {Le Kliff}

there's this little slice of heaven in puerto vallarta called, "Le Kliff." this place is absolutely mandatory to visit every time we go there. in summary, it's my happy place, it's the place that makes me feel like i'm on top of the world and nothing can touch me. all my senses are heightened just by being here. the sound of the ocean hitting the rocks, the sight of the endless water that surrounds us, the smell of the tropics, the feel of the humidity (this is not the best feeling but none-the-less i don't seem to mind the horror of what it does to my hair when i'm here) and the calmness that overcomes me, is all too perfect to try and describe.

i've visited this place many many times and i've taken a few friends along the way. i love sharing my favorite places with my favorite people. 

as we all head into the weekend let's channel our happy place and soak it all in!
